    Description

    Rene LALIQUE "Danaides" Vase
    Circa 1926 -  Model 972 - Frosted & Clear Glass. 7 1/4" tall.
In Greek mythology the Danaïdes were the 50 daughters of Danaus. They were married off to the 50 sons of a neighboring kingdom. All but 1 of the daughters killed their new husband on the wedding night. The punishment was being forced to carry a water jug to fill a tub, that had never ending leaks or holes, to ceremoniously wash away their sins, as they forever tried to fill the tub.
Good vintage condition. Has a few small scratches and nicks.
There is a chip in the inside bottom of the base that has been professionally repaired. Some shelf wear on bottom. Not mint, but really nice for being 94 years old! Please see and zoom in on photos.
