RARE R. LALIQUE "BAYONNE " BOX CLEAR FROSTED CRYSTAL CIRCA 1939, MODEL #103
This an authentic signed R. Lalique "BAYONNE" circa 1939. Reference book: "R. Lalique L'oeuvre De Verre" by Felix Marcilhac, model 103. See last photo #9.
This is a beautiful art deco style and very nice size "BAYONNE" box designed by R. Lalique. It measures approximately 21cm (8.25 inches) in diameter and 3 inches tall with the top and weight approximately 4.29 pounds. Very nice size and weight, perfect for serving cadies or snacks. There are two chips, one on the lid and one on the base. See last three photos for details, I have highlighted them for your convenience. The last photo is taken from a distant. As you can see, these are very minor chips and do not distract from the overall beauty. The "R. Lalique" marking is on the lid, see photo #7. I do believe this is a rare and hard to find piece. According to the R. Lalique book, this piece was first introduced on Aril 18, 1939 and has not been in production since 1947 (roughly after World War II ended and Rene Lalique's death in 1945).
