    Description

    Welcome to
    ANTIQUES & MOORE!
This listing is for an authentic Rene Lalique Crystal Faucon (Falcon) hood ornament or automobile/car mascot, c. 1925. This hard-to-find sculpture has a beautiful light smoky gray tint to the glass and was produced as a luxury automobile hood ornament or car mascot during the 1920's. Lalique is currently producing a reissue of this sculpture in clear frosted crystal and it is being sold as a paperweight. The falcon we are offering is the original version created in 1925 and produced by Rene Lalique as his first car mascot design. It is signed with molded "R. Lalique" signature on lower edge of base and is etched "France" on opposite side of base with No. 1124 etched on the base. Reference Marcilhac #1124.
    Measures 6" high, 4 1/2" wide with a 2 5/8" diameter base. Weighs 1.2 pounds.
Unfortunately, this figure does have a condition issue. There is an old, professional restoration with polishing on tip of beak (see photos). Other than this, there are no other noted flaws with the figure other than minor surface scratches on base from normal wear.  When available, the original falcon car mascot in excellent condition will sell for 00.00 and up. To those who are unfamiliar with this item, the alternation to the beak is not immediately noticed as I missed this when I purchased the item and the high-end auction house where it was sold did not call the repair in their catalog. Still, even with the repair, this rare falcon hood ornament makes a nice cabinet display and is a great conversation piece. If one could only know on whose automobile this piece adorned.
