Super collectable, Vintage-Mid-20th Century-era,
OROMO AFRICAN BREAD/LUNCH BASKET, COILED GRASS & LEATHER, 2 PIECE.  Vintage piece comes w/DISTRESSED LEATHER STRAPS.
Straps are super brittle w/some broken pieces.  At some point the top leather handle broke & disappeared, so there is no handle for the top of the basket  There are side handles, a long & short strap--may need to be treated or replaced.  Desirable age wear & patina to this 2 Piece Bread/Lunch Basket.  Basket is 8 1/2"x3" w/approx. 2 1/2" depth; top is 7 1/4"x2" & does fit on the basket when handles are outside the basket.  African Basket is handmade by the Oromo People of Ethiopia.  Woven & coiled grass comprises the underside & inner parts of the basket; tightly coiled weave, nice earthen Brown tones.  Outer of 2 Piece Basket is Dark Brown Leather; White hand stitch is fairly dirty; basket shows wear, areas of splitting to the leather; still super hard leather; possible to restore if desired.  Has desirable authentic age wear & patina.  As this is HANDMADE, there are areas that are uneven.  Basket is about 21" around.  Please look at the many photos provided for you to get a good look at this Lovely Basket.  Very cool Oromo Ethiopian Bread/Lunch Basket that  will make an excellent addition to a collection or décor.  Please feel free to ask ???'s prior to purchasing; our response time is usually fast.  Item comes from a home shared w/a pup.
