This listing is for a lovely Lalique Crystal EPIS wheat decorated table or desk lidded box with silver trim, Lalique design #10579. This design features two clear and frosted wheat stalks in relief on the top of the box with the rest of the box a clear crystal. The top and bottom of the box are thick pieces of glass that are banded in a silver metal that some advertise as Sterling Silver and others state that it is chrome. The silver tarnishes and polishes like Sterling Silver, however, we found no mark and no definitive answer regarding the metal bands. The box is hinged with two secure hinges and opens and closes correctly. Box could possibly have originally been sold as a cigarette box. Marked on base with script signature "Lalique, France".
Measures 2 1/4" high, 5 5/8" long and 4 1/8" wide (not including hinges). Weighs 2.9 pounds.
This nice box is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. There is some tarnish on the silver bands especially around the hinge areas that are hard to get to in order to polish the metal. Please use your own judgment as to the metal's content - Sterling Silver or chrome.
