This is a wonderful Vintage African Wood and Leather Honey Pot Container from the Kamba People of Kenya. The wooden honey pot is a carved wood vessel with cow hide handles and lid. This container was carved by women using traditional tools and indigenous trees. Bee Keeping became another source of income to the tribal people of Kenya. Producing honey was expected to contribute to the reduction of poverty as well as changing the soc-economic and ecological environments of this region. After the hunt, men go out again to gather honey, which is the only natural sweetener available in traditional diets.
